Went to see Floyd and Clea Under The Western Sky at Hartford Stage this evening with my mother. East Coast premiere of a new Western-style musical. I enjoyed it, overall. There were some spots in the beginning that fell a little flat, but the music was good, and the actors really put themselves into their roles.. there was some palpable tension rising off the stage like heat wave mirage during one scene, and I was drawn into it nicely there. There's also a new exhibit of some of Salvador Dali's paintings up at the Wadsworth Atheneum, and I really need to come down and see it before it leaves in December.
Went out with mom for a snack and drinks after the show, and caught up on all the recent events, my father's back injury and my great-aunt Jeannette's death, as well as sharing some of what's going on in my world. I'm grateful that my mom renewed the theatre subscription this year.. it gives us dedicated hang-out time, and I get to bask in the reflected glow of stage lights and watch shows I might not otherwise go to see.
Back at the house now, watching my sister play City Of Heroes, and about to do a basket of laundry. Clean clothing is very useful, especially since the wearing of costumes starts on Monday. Pressure's on, thanks to the newsletter profile. Should be great fun, though, and I've some new ideas for this year.
I'm rather tired, got a lot done this afternoon at my apartment instead of getting down here early, and there's still a bunch of stuff to do before I head for my old bedroom and curl up under the spiderweb canopy. Hopefully my work day will fly by, I'll bring a good comic to read, and then the evening awaits. *tick tick tick*
Later.
